Ayurveda and Vedic system of health

Every Vedic systems of health including Ayurveda ,Marma chikitsa, Yoga etc all are focused mainly on inner well-being of an individual. Because, our Vedic culture understood that physical health and external well-being are just a manifestation of inner situation of an individual and vice-verse .

Both inner well-being and its external manifestation are reflection of each other and also mutual complimentary to each other . Hence Vedic system of health gives at the most importance to what goes inside in terms of food ,thoughts ,emotions,perception and experiences.

Ayurveda gives more in detail description about body- mind health i.e physiological and psychological health where as yogic sciences have focus more on psycho-spiritual health. So yoga-ayurveda together forms an in total approaches to holistic health.

The content of Our body is mainly formed by the food that we eat and air that we breath where as the content of our mind is mainly formed by our intake through five sensory organ namely eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin. All these are processed inside, absorbed ,assimilated and finally shapes our body and mind.

Ayurveda says external world and internal world are not two different entities and inseparable from each other. Rather they are different faces of same one reality.

For an individual,they may have have different reason to follow vedic lifestyle at different depth. For example; physical health at body level, emotional and intellectual health at mind level, social health and ecological health at community level , energy and spiritual health at core inner self level.

Ultimate aim of all vedic system of health are self-realization and total liberation from suffering .

Basically we human have two kind of health related problems namely physical pain and emotional unpleasant experiences .

We always experience pain at physical level and pain is external, whereas the suffering we experience at mental level and also at still more deeper level.

Though pain and suffering are the different expression of same one human health challenge ,Pain can be relieved by external measures like specific diet, herbal medications, manual therapies etc where as relief from suffering requires willingness and self thriving to get rid by unpleasantness from within .
Ayurveda lifestyle gives importance to following component with both the intention .

Let us discus every week each one in detail in the perspective of Vedic system of integrative health.
  • Food that we consume.
  • Physical activity that we do and behavior that we adopt.
  • Rest which we enjoy.
  • Thought that we generate.
  • Emotions that we experience.
  • Perception about our life and external world.
  • Co-ordination between our inner world and external world i.e our inner self and outer self
  • Energy that exist within that which we realize if we are willing for it.
  • Svastha and yogastha state.
  • How to sustain sva-stha and yoga-stha state within and out.
