Who can forget the history of Hampi that every Kannadiga is proud of!! The Vijayanagara Empire established by Vidyaranya, Hakka Bukka, and glorification period during Krishnadevaraya!!! Even today, visit those streets and it reminds of the majesty that once prevailed 100s of years ago!!!
History speaks that, the invaders took several days to destroy and still majority remained intact. The architecture, the city planning everything that we look at awes the eyes.
But in the recent Corona times, what reminds us of Hampi are the in-numerous hotels, dormitories, cab drivers, street vendors and all tourism related trade that remains standstill!!! The pathetic state of these people who remain stranded due to this difficult time. Whose source of income depended on the foreign rich tourists who visited and many Indians as well!!
Photography over Hampi Streets
Hampi streets always seemed to be busy roads, in all seasons. Either when it was glamourous during Vijayanagara Empire or now when it is ruined. Then it flocked traders and now it flocks tourists. But current state would be empty ruined roads!!!!
Most commonly seen are foreign tourists who are amazed with the architecture and glory it once swayed across the country.
Street Vendors running behind visitors to buy their stuff are also common. Many small boys, poverty ridden, enter into selling small toys, targeting foreign tourists and small kids to sell their stuff. Many pity and buy, few offer them snacks they have and few just offer money. Its a common sight and tourists are the source of their food/income.
